Last night I
had an idea! I still have my wedding dress in my closest and as much as I love
it, realistically I’m never going to wear it again, so I thought what if I
could gift it to a bride on a budget who might like the fit and general style,
so I could pay it forward? I know how expensive wedding dresses and weddings in
general can be and I had it on my heart to give it away, not to ask for a cent.
I put it up on my Instagram stories to see if there was
anyone out there who might be the same size as me and liked the general style.
I thought maybe one or two people would be interested but I woke up to a quite few
messages form brides or their family members. So, I have decided to extend the
giveaway and will do a random draw to pick a bride to gift my wedding dress to.
The pictures of the wedding dress are on my Instagram
account, “Megan Airey”. There is a highlight reel called “Giveaway” so have a
little browse through all the pictures on there and I also have more pictures
on the blog here and here. I don’t have the veil or skirt, but
tulle is cheap and cheerful to buy so you could always recreate the look if you
wanted to add a long veil or the skirt. It has been dry cleaned and there is a
small section at the bottom where the train is a slight off colour from dragging
on the floor on my wedding day, but you can add tulle or extend this bottom
section if needed.
You do not have to follow me on Instagram if you don’t want
to, the only condition is that after your wedding day, you have to pay it forward
and give the wedding dress to another bride to be on a budget. See entry
details below.
- Entries close on the 31 January 2018.
- It’s made for a size 6 or small size 8, 32C up so make sure this is similar to your size.
- Anyone can enter, I will courier it internationally or deliver locally in Durban
- Leave your first name and Instagram account below in the comments section so I can direct message you if you win.
- This is your wedding dress for the most incredible day of your life. You can make alterations (add length to it, make the skirt bigger, cut it short, take it in, etc.)
- BUT you cannot sell it. You must pay it forward and give it to another deserving bride who is on a budget and needing a wedding dress.
- Use the hashtag #sisterhoodofthetravellingweddingdress so we get to follow all the beautiful love stories this wedding dress is a part of.
An exquisite dress and beautiful idea. I’d be honoured to be gifted and gift in return!
